2021 Women Changing the Face of Agriculture Event Postponed
The 2021 Women Changing the Face of Agriculture event, scheduled for March 5, 2021 at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois, has been postponed until 2022.
“While we were disappointed that yet another event will be postponed, we believe in our goal and the opportunities that this event provides for students to explore careers in the agricultural industry,” said Gayle Baker, Women Changing the Face of Ag PR Committee Chair. “This year has taught us to look for new ways to accomplish our goals, and we plan to do the best we can to still provide useful information for students.”
Online curriculum, including videos of women representing various careers in agriculture and information about sponsoring agribusinesses, will be available starting March 5, 2021 for viewing by anyone interested in learning more about agricultural career opportunities. Videos will be grouped by theme for easy access.
“We appreciate the Illinois Agri-Women putting participants’ health and safety at the forefront and respect their decision to postpone the conference until 2022,” said Ellen Burns, Carl Sandburg College. “As Sandburg continues to build its ag program, we look forward to collaborating with the WCFA committee, industry professionals, and volunteers over the next year to serve as the host site for the event, which will showcase the abundant educational and career opportunities in agriculture across Illinois and beyond.”
The Illinois Agri-Women, coordinators of the event, will continue to offer scholarship opportunities for young women pursuing higher education in agriculture. Several interns will also be hired to assist with communications work year-round.
The next Women Changing the Face of Agriculture event will take place on March 4, 2022, at Carl Sandburg College. Registration materials will be available in late 2021. The Women Changing the Face of Agriculture conference began in 2010 as a way to bring together professional women in agriculture with high school and college-age women seeking career information and advice. The conference is a project of the Illinois Agri-Women. More information can be found at www.womenchangingthefaceofagriculture.com
